Have you ever noticed how your energy changes when you’re feeling joy versus when you’re feeling fear? Every emotion we experience carries a specific energetic frequency, and that frequency influences how we think, act, and attract experiences into our lives. The Energy of Emotion
Emotions are not merely fleeting moods; they’re energetic signals. When we feel anger, grief, or fear, our energy contracts creating a slower or lower vibrational frequency. This in turn narrows perspective; and we may feel stuck, reactive, or disconnected from possibility. These lower frequencies align with what’s often called the Victim/Abuser Consciousness, where feeling powerless or overly controlling exists as a defense mechanism.
In contrast, when we shift into love, joy, or peace, our energy expands. These higher frequencies are lighter and more fluid, helping us feel open, creative, and connected. At this level, we embody Self-Empowerment and move toward Self-Realization. When we operate in these energetic states we experience life through a lens of compassion, clarity, and alignment.
How Emotional Awareness Shifts Energy
Awareness is the bridge between emotion and energy. By recognizing what we’re feeling, we can consciously choose to shift into a higher energetic vibration.
For example:
- Fear (100) can evolve into Courage (200) by taking small, brave steps despite discomfort
- Anger (150) can become Determination (175) by channeling that energy toward change
- Grief (75) can transform into Acceptance (350) when we honor our pain and allow healing
Each emotional shift increases energetic flow, freeing us from resistance and inviting more harmony into our inner and outer worlds.
Practical Ways to Elevate Your Energy
- Mindful Awareness: Pause throughout the day to name what you’re feeling. Labeling emotions reduces their charge and helps you respond instead of react.
- Movement & Breathwork: Energy flows through the body. Stretching, dancing, or deep breathing can help release stagnant energy and raise vibration.
- Heart-Centered Practices: Gratitude, compassion, and forgiveness directly activate higher frequencies associated with love and peace.
- Meditation & Visualization: Envision yourself surrounded by healing light or vibrating at a higher frequency. This simple imagery retrains your energy body to align with your intention.
The Path of Emotional Mastery
As we move up the energetic scale, life begins to mirror our internal state. Situations that once triggered us lose power, relationships deepen, and intuition sharpens. This journey is not about avoiding lower vibrational emotions. It’s about understanding the message the emotion is sending and using emotion as a stepping stone toward higher awareness. While it is possible to temporarily jump up to higher frequencies to avoid lower ones, failure to address the underlying cause of these feelings will ensure that you crash back down.

Guilt and shame may be tied to wounds of not feeling safe or stable in childhood, which deeply affects self-identity. Grief and apathy represent imbalance in the Sacral Chakra. The Solar Plexus is connected to self-empowerment. Blockages here include untamed fears and desires (including feelings of envy or jealousy). Struggles related to emotions of these lower chakras can bring up anger as we process the wounds that caused us to feel shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, and desire.
Oftentimes we find that the programming of these lower emotions has been created by others, and does not reflect our true nature. This awareness highlights time wasted and energy spent trying to overcome projections of how others have defined our value or worth. We become angry at ourselves and at those who failed us. Shadow work, development of both our inner masculine and feminine energies (may be viewed as the alignment of strength/ courage with sensitivity/ creativity), and establishing empowered boundaries/ values help to unblock these lower chakras.
With the removal of these blockages, comes a release from the victim/ abuser consciousness and movement into a self-empowered state of being. This is an expansion we can physically feel, as tension and physical symptoms (i.e. aches, pains, digestive problems, etc) subside and your energetic field opens. It also connects the lower chakras to the Heart Chakra, which is the gateway to the Upper Chakra system.
Self-empowerment allows us to take pride in ourselves for the work we have done to overcome past limitations. It gives us courage to continue to grow and go after our dreams. We develop a sense of neutrality as we trade reactions for calm responses that reflect our self-worth; and we become willing to continue to accept responsibility for our journey toward self-realization. In this process, we open the Throat Chakra and begin to express our authenticity.
With the ability to express our authenticity comes the intuitive clarity of the Third Eye Chakra. This is where we see ourselves clearly and accept all aspects of ourselves. It is also where we recognize the true patterns and behaviors of others, using our discernment to interact with our environment in the manner that serves our greatest good. We begin to find capacity to experience love and joy, not only for that which may be perceived as good, but also that which may be perceived as negative -- because we understand that these things are merely flip sides of the same thing.
An open Crown Chakra, combined with the flow of having all other chakras in balance, brings the ultimate inner peace and leads to enlightenment – the highest stage of Self-Realization. It takes deep focus and introspection to maintain this level of emotional frequency. One must commit to the cycle of reaching back down into the lower emotional frequencies to understand and reprogram limiting beliefs and patterns as they arise. This commitment to the self is life long, because as we release lower vibrational energy new space is created. This new space allows for new and better aligned experiences, as well as room for additional repressed shadows to surface and be healed.
